We are proud to announce that Glasimport Greenhouses has officially obtained the HortiQ certificate! This certificate underlines our commitment to quality, reliability and innovation within the horticultural sector. On 30 July 2024, our director-owner, Lucien Knetemann, received the certificate from HortiQ chairman Hans van der Salm.
The road to certification was extraordinary. Within just three months, all procedures were described and optimised, a process in which Lucien himself played an active role. ‘By going through the procedures myself, I was able to improve a number of internal processes,’ says Lucien. ‘This not only resulted in certification, but also in a stronger foundation for our operations.’
Innovation and reliability as core values
Glasimport Greenhouses has been known worldwide as a supplier of high-quality horticultural glass for almost sixty years. Our brand Vetrasol is an industry leader thanks to unique features such as consistency, excellent light transmission and reliable delivery.
Besides supplying glass, we also play an active role in the evolution of diffused glass. Lucien explains: ‘We work with market gardeners, greenhouse builders and research institutes such as WUR to develop products that better meet market needs. Think glass with coatings that better regulate heat or optimise the light spectrum for plant growth.’
Certification: a logical step
The decision to certify ourselves according to BRL 8001 (HortiQ) is a strategic move. ‘Our customers, the greenhouse builders, developed this certificate,’ explains Lucien. ‘It makes sense for us as a supplier to achieve it too. It shows that our processes are in order and that we are a reliable link in the chain.’
With this certification, we hope to not only strengthen our position in the market, but also set an example for the industry. ‘I believe certification should become the norm so that customers are guaranteed quality.’
Together towards a strong future
The certification is a team effort. Lucien looks back on the process with pride: ‘It was intensive, but thanks to the commitment of the whole team we were able to achieve it in a short time. The auditor's praise of our commitment confirms that we are on the right track.’
